White Tea and Health
We get a lot of questions about white teas. White teas are simply processed after picking.? They are basically air-dried and withered.? In the cup, White teas are light in color and mild in taste.
.? So, what about health benefits?? Many people belive that due to the limited processing that many good things come from drinking White Teas.? ? There have been some studies but not as many as other teas.? There hase also be some recent press? highlighting studies involving White Tea.- The teas need to be fresh and of good quality
- The subjects must drink tea regularly to acheive any benefit
- It will likely take more studies for the USA medical community to make broad, sweeping claims about tea
We’ll keep our eye out for interesting references and post them here.? Meanwhile, helath benefits aside, we hope you’ll continue to enjoy teas for their taste and rituals that help us all slow down abit each day.

Green Tea and Hype
While Green Teas reported health benefits keep it in the news, there is a lot of hype out there.? We always advocate that our customer do their own homework and consult with their trusted health advisors on their specific situation.? Recent reports have green tea helping with HIV, Cancer, to wrinkles.? Salon.com just lampooned all the hype in an article laced with sarcasm.
? So what are we to make of all this?
Like any product hyped for health (even broccoli falls into this category) benefits only accrue if:
- High quality products are consumed
- The products are consumed regularly for an extended period of time – we’re talking 4-6 cups per day for years
- The products are part of an overall heathly lifestyle habit
? Our philosophy is to find teas we like and drink them regularly.? While, there are many signs of tea’s healhful properties, I like the for their taste and? rituals the slow us down a bit.? Now where did I put my green tea cheeseburger

Just like wine connoisseurs, tea aficionados appreciate the differences in flavor and quality which vary from season to season and from region to region.? Other tea-drinkers prefer the consistency of a blend, such as and English Breakfast or Ceylon Blend. However we like our tea, the quality has to be evaluated. This is done by professional tea tasters in a very structured way by examining the dry and infused leaf, the color and aroma of the liquor and finally the taste of the infusion.
